Being a photographer can be the same as being an explorer. You go out in the search for something no one else have ever seen. You will see things through the lens you would not have seen without it. Suddenly there’s beauty everywhere. The most mundane object can be wonderful and eye-catching with the right settings or filters. Or maybe with the right attitude..
This year I promised myself to take more photos because I really love photography. Being a photographer is another way of living. I believe I see more. The eyes get trained to see certain types of light, contrasts, reflections, atmospheres – and empty space. Yesterday there was a strange atmosphere in the air. Slightly threatening, or promising.
And I just got a new way of seeing it all. A new Olympus camera. TG-2. A tough compact. This is my new adventure partner. Durable, easy to carry and never complains about it being too cold or wet. Its no secret I get sponsored by Olympus cameras, but it’s truly the best ones I know. Maybe because they are some of few which can cope with my adventures. It’s waterproof, crushproof and can handle freezing temperatures at the same time as it makes really good photos and film.
I’ve also fallen in love with the filters of the new generations of cameras. It’s creative and a lot of fun. Yesterday I used the ”dramatic” filter, which adds drama and gives some really funky effects , as well as the macro setting and normal program modes.
This was goodbye to the sea for a while. Soon heading towards mountains, cold and thin air again.
In the image above the screen shows a lot of adveturous possibilities; GPS, altitude and depth!
